02 · Bio
Composer and pianist. A career built work by work, between Spain and Denmark, with the piano as its expressive axis.
"I feel that music is like the blood running through my veins. I am music."
Alicia Sevilla Redondo was born in Valencia and studied composition at the Conservatorio Profesional de Torrent. Since then she has written for theatre, documentary, film and video games, alongside her own works for piano, string quartet and orchestra. She has worked mainly between Spain and Denmark, where she lived for a long period. She is now based in Valencia.
She is also a qualified music teacher with a postgraduate degree in Waldorf pedagogy. Besides the piano she plays the harp, sings, and turns her hand to violin and cello; she paints and she conducts. All of it feeds one purpose: to communicate essential emotions with a singular sensibility.
Career
Twelve moments that explain where her music comes from and where it is going.
A solid classical training: more than thirty years of piano and of writing. Composing was never an academic exercise for her, but her natural way of telling things.
Her first recording and theatre project. A wordless play with live music fully integrated into the staging, directed by Ricardo Padilla. It premiered at the Teatro Campos Elíseos in Bilbao.
El Noctámbulo reaches Madrid for five consecutive performances, from 4 to 8 September, after returning in April to the Campos Elíseos in Bilbao.
Her music is chosen for the campaign "Antes de 2015 actúa". It is the start of a strand of work with social projects and NGOs that continues to this day.
Social projectHer first personal album, premiered on 21 June at the Sociedad Bilbaína with piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar. An intimate record that defines her artistic identity.
On 28 December she plays the Sociedad Bilbaína again and fills the room again. Two consecutive years with tickets sold out.
She plays at Juhl Sørensen in October and at the DKDM — Royal Danish Academy of Music in November. Moments Version 3 sells out. She closes the year on 30 December, once again at the Sociedad Bilbaína.
Intimate concerts at Metronomen (Frederiksberg), Rønnevang Kirke (Taastrup) and Uldum Kirke. In December she releases Memories: twelve pieces in which she traces her own story with clarity and depth.
She is engaged to give a concert at Christians Kirke on 24 November. Institutional recognition of a body of work built, until then, one concert at a time.
Institutional commissionIn Valencia she completes the master's in composition for film, television and video games (Scoring for Film, TV and Video Games). She graduates with honours and receives the Academic Excellence Award.
Her most ambitious work to date and her first orchestral composition, recorded at AIR Studios in London. The natural step from the intimacy of the piano to the scale of an orchestra.
She composes and records on her Estonia piano, the only one of its model in Spain. She has just finished the sound project "Mares" with engineer Pablo Schuler, and is developing new staged and synaesthetic experiences for her concerts with Ricardo Padilla.
Technical skills
Alicia combines a solid classical training with a style of her own, intimate and precise. Her sound world is built around the piano as its expressive axis, and everything else arranges itself around it.
